Oakland Geologic Map
In 2000, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) released a Geologic Map and Map Database of the Oakland Metropolitan Area, Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties, California. The pamphlet that accompanies the geologic map includes short written descriptions of the surface deposits (clay, silt, sand, fill, etc).
In addition to the resources available through USGS, there is also a local group and blog dedicated to Oakland Geology which included a Q&A section and photos residents have taken of various sites in Oakland.
